A Comparison of Vacuum and Atmosphere Carburization
- AISI Blog:
https://barfatigueblog.org/2018/04/
- Processing:
Iterations 137,138 were Atmosphere through carburized using the
traditional 927 C, twenty-six hour cycle which provided a
surface hardness of 61 to 64 HRC and a core hardness of 55 to 60 HRC.
Iteration 141,142 was vacuum through carburized using a thirty-six
hour cycle at 927 C, which provided a uniform carbon content
and a uniform hardness through the entire cross section.
