Steel Base Metal and Weld Metal Fatigue files: Index :
Web Page: https://fde.uwaterloo.ca/Fde/Material/Steel/Weldmetal/steelWeldMetal.html
Updates: Dec2014, Mar2015
The files in this directory are offered by the U.of Waterloo students, alumni,
F.D.+ E. committee members and others as a set of example files for the construction of
web based material fatigue property databases. They are meant
for research and informational use only, not for design.

overstrained incrementally followed
by constant amplitude.)

- NRIM Data Sheets : (Nat. Res. Inst. for Metals, Tokyo, Japan)
(Note: the three NRIM studies are highly detailed work including
the chemistry of Base, Filler and Weld metals, hardness profiles, and
a variety of fatigue test types. They are available here:

- Conclusion Although the data spread is typical for fatigue data collections from
sources (e.g.: Scatter in Fatigue data )
the VanderZanden specimens were initially overstrained +/-1.0% strain and then tested in
fatigue. Hence until more data is available the "Fitted" curve is left as shown.
The Higashida and Lawrence A514 weld metal (Sy=796mpa) results lie significantly above the
lower strength material results, which suggest that data should be collected and
presented separately for such higher strength steel weld metals.
