AISI_304 Stainless Steel Fatigue file index :
Web Page: https://fde.uwaterloo.ca/Fde/Material/SSteel/AISI_304_stainless/aisi304.html
Updates: Aug.17 1999. Mar3-2009, Mar2012, Sep2021, Jun2025
The files in this directory are offered by the F.D.+ E. committee
members as a set of example files for the construction of
web based material fatigue property databases. They are meant
for information and research use only, not for design.
Note!! Stainless 304 contains Austenite which transforms due to plastic deformation,
such as in fatigue tests, which can lead to unexpected results using the standard
fitting programs. Be sure to check the "fitted" parameters or curves against the
original raw test data points.
( 'course this is adviable for all data sets in any database)

(Neuber Eq. Stress is = sqrt(StsAmpl. * StrAmpl * E) The differences in
stress response are substantial and cause the Neuber stress to increase
at the cold temperatures.

When one applies the standard Coffin-Manson fitting proceedure one gets these results:
Coffin-Manson fit data sheet
Coffin-Manson fit cyclic stress-strain
Coffin-Manson fit Neuber stress
The fits can be improved by manually adjusting the "fitted" curve:
(The fitted curve for this transforming steel looks pretty weird)
Strain-Life with improved manual fitted curve
Cyclic Stress-Strain with improved manual fitted curve
Neuber Stress with improved manual fitted curve
